Our Research
We aim to do impactful science that improves the health of Canada's aquatic ecosystems for people and nature. Currently, we have a particular interest in Pacific salmon and steelhead and their habitats. Our specific interests evolve alongside our members' interests and align with emerging problems.
Climate Change & Resilience
Climate change poses threats to salmon across their life cycle. There is a need to study how climate change is altering salmon systems and use this information for forward-looking management to foster climate resilience and adaptation.
Fisheries Sustainability
We work directly with management agencies to examine how management decisions impact population productivity. We use cutting-edge techniques to better understand fisheries as social-ecological systems.
Habitat Stressors & Restoration
We examine how landscape stressors and cumulative impacts can affect watersheds and the fish that reside in them.
Opportunities
Are you a graduate student or post-doctoral researcher looking for a unique applied learning opportunity? We provide hands-on training from agency scientists and academic researchers, meaning you'll be trained with cutting-edge tools and technology and plugged into a network for a career in aquatic science!
We are currently seeking a post-doctoral researcher for a project examining potential social-ecological traps associated with hatchery production of Pacific salmon.
